The Pukes are releasing a Christmas single to help raise money for Camden charity Rock 'N' Roll Rescue.

The cheeky new track, titled Exmas, is a festive ditty written by The Pukes in sympathy with all the parents who will be putting up with their ex on Christmas day for the sake of the kids.

Profits from the sale of the single will go to Rock ‘N’ Roll Rescue - a charity set up by Knox, original Vibrators frontman - with the aim of helping people “at the bottom of the welfare system”. So far they’ve helped the Camden branch of The Trussell Trust foodbank as well as Food For All – a charity which provides food for homeless people in the area. In the future Knox hopes the shop will become an informal drop-in centre for people “who’re not feeling so good or just want to hang out”. The charity shop (next door to the Dublin Castle) sells musical instruments and equipment, records, CDs, cassettes, clothing and memorabilia. They offer an instrument and audio equipment repair service and host gigs, workshops and other events.

Why’ve I got my ex for Christmas
He’s the ghost of Christmas past
He’s come round to see the kids
Now I can’t get rid
Why’ve I got my ex for Christmas

Him and his beer belly
Sat in front of my telly
Hogging the remote
Snoring through Home Alone
Eating all my mince pies
It’s just like old times
He’s drunk and the kids are bored
I remember why we got divorced

He’s always late of course
Hungover from the night before
He’s had a row with Aunty May
He’ll still be here on Boxing Day

You put the ex into Xmas
You bring the past to the presents
Yes it’s the forgiving season
But you’re an ex for a reason
Welcome as a soggy sprout
Shut the door on your way out

La la la la

Why’ve I got my ex for Christmas
